I’ve had countless enquiries from business owners over the years who start the conversation with “I want a website for my business”.
When I started my business in 2007, this was like music to my ears: here was a business owner telling me they needed the product I provided.
But, with seven years experience I’ve learned to ignore that statement and try to find out what the business owner really means. Because, when a business owner “wants a new website”, or a rework of an existing website, that’s a symptom of a deeper need. It is much more likely, especially with existing businesses, that the website is not meeting a specific business need and the owner wants that fixed.
So, if you come to me and tell me you need a website, be prepared for a long question and answer session where we will work together to find out what you really need in your business. After we’ve finished, you will know whether a new or reworked website is the solution to the problem you have, or whether you need to look at some other way of making improvements in your business.
